Jasprit Bumrah’s accuracy and Rishabh Pant’s fearlessness helped India beat Pakistan

Rishabh Pant

On the tricky pitch of Nasawi County in America, after India’s wicketkeeper and dashing batsman Rishabh Pant, Indian bowlers led by bowler Jaspreet Bumrah wreaked havoc on the Pakistani batting and defeated them by 6 runs. Rohit Sharma’s Indian team crushed Pakistan by 6 runs in a thrilling match on Sunday. With this win, India has defeated Pakistan for the 8th time in total 9 matches played between the two in T20 World Cup. Indian bowlers defended the small target of 119 runs brilliantly and at the same time the Indian team has also cemented its claim for the Super 8.

With the second defeat, poor Pakistan is on the verge of being eliminated. Chasing the target in the rain-affected match, Pakistan could only score 113 runs at a loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, one of the most dangerous bowlers in the world, turned the whole match around by bowling out Mohammad Rizwan in the 15th over. After this, Pakistan could only score 33 runs and lose three wickets.

Pakistan needed 21 runs in the last two overs. Bumrah spent only 3 runs in the 19th over and also took a wicket. Then 18 runs were needed in 6 balls, and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was in front. He dismissed Imad Wasim on the very first ball. Imad Wasim scored 15 runs for Pakistan, while captain Babar Azam, Usman Khan, and Fakhar Zaman contributed 13 runs. For India, star bowler Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, and Hardik Pandya took two wickets.

Only Rishabh Pant was able to perform, other batsmen disappointed

Rishabh Pant

Batting first, India could score only 119 runs in 120 balls and lost all their 10 wickets despite Rishabh Pant’s useful and stormy innings of 42 runs in 31 balls. This has been the lowest score in the first innings of a T20 match against Pakistan. Apart from Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Akshar Patel scored 20 and captain Rohit Sharma played an important innings of 13 runs on the slow pitch. Only these three batsmen were able to reach double figures.

Pakistan’s fast bowlers, Naseem Shah and Harris Rauf, took three wickets each, while Mohammad Aamir took two wickets and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma hit a long six in the first over to Pakistan’s fast bowler Afridi.

Rain caused trouble during the match

After this, it rained again, and the game was interrupted for half an hour. Batting first, Virat Kohli opened his account by hitting a four off the very first ball of Naseem Shah, but just one ball later, while trying to hit the third wide ball for a boundary, he got caught by the fielder at deep point. In the next over, Rohit Sharma, while trying to play a big shot, got caught by the fielder at deep square leg.

Pant-Patel together handled the innings

After continuous fall of wickets, Axar Patel, who came to bat at number three, along with Rishabh Pant, took charge of the Indian innings and took it forward. Axar Patel reduced the pressure by hitting a four and a six on two consecutive balls of Shaheen Afridi, then in the next over, Rishabh Pant sent Mohammad Aamir’s ball for a six. Axar Patel went ahead and got bowled out while trying to hit Naseem Shah’s straight ball across the boundary and with this, the strong partnership of 39 runs between Pant and Patel also broke.

Strong batsman Surya could not perform

Rishabh Pant

Dangerous batsman Suryakumar Yadav also could not do anything special and got out after scoring just three runs. As soon as he came, he hit a spectacular shot on Naseem Shah’s ball and collected a four. In the next over, Rishabh Pant, in an attempt to play a big shot off left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, hit the ball in the air but the fielder could not catch him. Taking advantage of the life, Pant hit three consecutive fours in the over of fast bowler Harris Rauf.
