World news: 80 countries participated in Ukraine Peace Summit, Israel will stop war every day for 8 hours

Ukraine

At the Ukraine Peace Summit held at the Burganstock Resort in Switzerland, 80 countries agreed that the basis of any agreement to end the war should be the territorial integrity of Ukraine. India, which was also present at this conference, said that we will continue to make efforts for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict.

A joint statement was issued in the absence of Russia. Representatives of about 100 countries were present at the conference, but Russia was not invited. India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Brazil did not sign the joint document.

Foreign Ministry Secretary Pawan Kapoor attended the conference on behalf of India. India said that it will continue to work with stakeholders for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict. The Foreign Ministry said that India believes that there must be an honest and practical partnership between Russia and Ukraine for a solution. Turkey also signed. This joint document included things like nuclear, food security, and the exchange of prisoners.

Ukraine’s sovereignty must be respected

According to the draft proposal agreed upon, respect for the UN Charter, territorial integrity, and sovereignty can be the basis for a comprehensive, just peace in Ukraine. Switzerland’s President Viola Emhard, who hosted the event, said that the overwhelming majority of supporting countries shows what diplomacy can achieve. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni said that this is the minimum condition for talks with Russia.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that we have to decide together what just peace means for the world and how it can be achieved in a lasting way. He appreciated the steps taken for peace initiatives in the meeting. The conference rejected the proposals put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Ukraine. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni called Putin’s proposal propaganda.

The war has been going on in Ukraine for more than two years. Due to this, Ukraine’s economy, peace, and normal life have been completely disrupted. The purpose of this peace summit was to persuade the countries of the world to take concrete steps to establish peace in Ukraine. Russia was not invited to the conference. China also kept its distance from this. British PM Rishi Sunak has accused Putin of fabricating a false story.

Israel took a big decision

The Israeli army on Sunday declared a tactical pause during the conflict to deliver as much humanitarian aid as possible in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army said that the tactical pause will be from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm in Rafah.

The army said that the tactical pause has been declared with the aim of reaching the aid trucks at the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing. These trucks will be able to safely go to the Salah-e-Din highway to deliver the aid material.

The Kerem Shalom Highway is the route through which aid material is delivered to the Israeli army. He said that the tactical pause was declared during the conflict in coordination with the United Nations and international aid agencies.

Due to the war going on for more than 8 months, the condition of the people in Gaza is very pathetic. More than 50 thousand children are suffering from severe malnutrition. Millions of people are facing starvation-like conditions. According to the data from the United Nations Humanitarian Office, the UN received an average of 68 trucks of aid every day from May 6 to June 6.

This was well below the average of 168 per day in April. Aid groups say 500 trucks are needed per day. COGAT, the Israeli military agency overseeing aid distribution in Gaza, said there was no ban on the entry of aid trucks. It said 8,600 trucks entered Gaza through different intersections between May 2 and June 13.

The Israeli military said the decision was taken because of a famine-like situation in Gaza-Karaza, where fighting would be halted for some time. No incidents of clashes were reported on Sunday morning after the announcement. However, the Israeli military said fighting in these areas had not ended yet.
