PM of Bharat honoured with Kuwait’s highest honour, ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Delhi after completing his two-day visit to Kuwait at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Earlier in Kuwait, the meeting between PM Modi and His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, discussed enhancing cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, energy, defence, security, health, education, technology, etc. Along with this, PM Modi also held talks with his counterpart Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. On the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Bharat and Kuwait agreed to elevate their relations to the strategic partnership level.
Various MoUs signed in a delegation-level meeting
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during the meeting between PM Modi and His Highness the Emir, both leaders expressed hope that the relations between Bharat and Kuwait will become even stronger in the coming times. PM Modi also met Kuwait Prime Minister Hamad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Crown Prince organized a banquet in honour of Modi
The Ministry of External Affairs said Bharat-Kuwait bilateral relations are progressing well, and their elevation to the level of strategic partnership is welcome. Both countries emphasized close coordination between the two sides at the United Nations and other multilateral forums. The Crown Prince organized a banquet in honour of Modi. PM Modi and His Highness the Amir recalled the strong historical and friendly relations between the two countries during their meeting.
Invitation to Amir and PM to visit Bharat
During his meeting with PM Modi, Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah appreciated the contribution of the large and vibrant Bharatiya community in the development of Kuwait. His Highness the Amir expressed hope for Bharat’s big role in realizing Kuwait Vision 2035. At the same time, the Prime Minister invited His Highness the Amir and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to visit Bharat.
Agreements made in the fields of culture, sports and solar energy
The MoU on defence cooperation between Bharat and Kuwait will institutionalize bilateral relations in this field. This includes training, sending personnel specialists to each other, joint military exercises, cooperation in the defence industry, supply of defence equipment, and cooperation in research and development.
The two countries signed an agreement for a cultural exchange program between 2025 and 2029, under which art, music, dance, literature, theatre, etc. will be organized. Cooperation will be done in the preservation of cultural heritage.
The visits of sports leaders will take place under the agreement reached on the executive program in the sports sector between the years 2025-2028. This includes participation in sports programs and the exchange of expertise in sports medicine, sports management, sports media, sports science, etc.
A memorandum was also signed for Kuwait’s membership in the International Solar Alliance (ISA). This alliance collectively helps member countries to move on the path of development with low carbon emissions with the use of solar energy.
Discussion on these issues between both nations
The Ministry of External Affairs said that during the talks, the two leaders discussed a roadmap to strengthen strategic partnership in areas including politics, trade, investment, energy, defence, security, health, education, technology, cultural, and people-to-people relations.
The Ministry of External Affairs also said that the two leaders emphasized deepening economic cooperation. Prime Minister Modi also invited a delegation of the Kuwaiti Investment Authority and other stakeholders to visit Bharat to explore new opportunities in energy, defence, medical equipment, pharma, and food parks, among others.
Cooperation in traditional medicine and agricultural research was also discussed
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders also discussed cooperation in traditional medicine and agricultural research. They welcomed the recent signing of the Joint Cooperation Commission (JCC).
PM Modi honoured with Kuwait’s highest honour
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also honoured with the Order of Mubarak Al Kabir. Prime Minister Modi shared his photo and wrote that he is very proud to receive this honour from the Amir of Kuwait. He dedicated this honour to the 1.4 billion people of Bharat, the Bharat community settled in Kuwait, and Bharat-Kuwait relations.
Kuwait awards its highest award as a symbol of friendship to heads of state, foreign rulers, and members of foreign royal families. Earlier, this honour was given to personalities like Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, and George Bush.
Guard of Honour at the Royal Palace
Prime Minister Modi was given a guard of honour on reaching the Royal Palace before being given the highest honour. He was welcomed by Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, present at the Bayan Palace. During this, bilateral talks were also held between them. Giving detailed information about this meeting, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that there was a discussion on raising Bharat-Kuwait relations to a strategic partnership. He said that during this time the Prime Minister thanked His Highness the Amir for the steps taken towards the welfare of the Bharatiya community.
