Vishal, who killed Rajendra Gupta and 4 members of his family three months ago in Varanasi, has been arrested. Along with this, the second accused, Vishal’s brother Prashant, has also been arrested by the police. The arrest of both has been possible only because of Dinesh Yadav, surveillance in-charge of Varanasi Commissionerate.
Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh was shaken by the murder of five members of the same family in November 2024. The police have arrested the murderer Vishal Gupta, alias Vicky, and his brother Prashant, alias Jugnu. The police had announced a reward of one lakh rupees for the absconding accused. After dodging the police for three months, now finally both the accused have been arrested. Both the brothers were standing and talking near the Lautubir temple of Sirgovardhan. The police caught them.
Policeman Dinesh Yadav played a key role in solving this case. The Varanasi Police Commissionerate was about to hand over the case to the STF when surveillance in-charge Inspector Dinesh Yadav got a breakthrough. That breakthrough was that Prashant alias Jugnu’s mobile was chatting through the Instagram app with two fake names, Vaishali and Vikas. From here, the police investigation proceeded, and finally, Vishal, alias Vicky, came under the police’s custody.
Varanasi Commissionerate’s surveillance in-charge Dinesh Yadav said that it was a tough task. Vicky himself was an app developer and had not even used the mobile for the last six months. Dinesh Yadav said that then he started searching Prashant’s alias Jugnu’s mobile. This breakthrough came after searching about two lakh numbers and 300 hours of CCTV from March 2022 to three numbers in 2024.
Used to talk on Instagram
Vishal and Prashant used to stay in touch with each other through the Instagram app. Where to come to get the money or from whom to take legal advice in this matter, he used to discuss on the app itself. DCP Gaurav Banshwal said that on the day of the incident, Vicky stayed on the BHU campus. The police have also got CCTV footage of him roaming on the BHU campus. From BHU itself, he reached Mirapur in Romania, where he killed Rajendra. After that, he booked Ola from a delivery boy’s mobile and reached Cantt station and then reached Bhadaini by auto, where he killed four more people.
Vicky did not stay in hotels
Surveillance in-charge Dinesh Yadav told Tv9 Bharatvarsh that he kept running from one railway station to another with the help of a sheet and some clothes. Since his photo was flashed everywhere, he did not stay in any hotel. He used to sleep on the station premises or platform, covering himself with a sheet. Six months ago, he had also broken contact with his girlfriend from Ahmedabad, whom he loved with all his heart. He was an app developer, and he took full advantage of this. DCP Gaurav Banshwal said that he had thrown both the 32-bore pistols bought from Madhubani in Bihar in the Hooghly River while going from Patna to Kolkata.
This is the whole case
The bodies of Rajendra Prasad Gupta’s wife Neetu, daughter Gaurangi, and sons Namanendra and Subendra, a resident of Bhadaini in the Bhelupur police station area, were found in their house on the morning of November 5, 2024. All four were shot dead; Rajendra’s body was found in his under-construction house in Mirapur Rampur in the Rohania police station area. Rajendra was also shot dead. After investigation, the police concluded that Vicky killed the entire family to avenge the murder of his parents. Rajendra was accused of killing Vicky’s parents. After all the efforts, the police have succeeded in arresting Vicky.
