A high-profile case has come to light from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Here a wife has lodged an FIR against her husband. The wife alleges that she had a love marriage 16 years ago. But now the husband has become the enemy of her life. The police registered a case and started investigating the matter. Then the accused husband was arrested and sent to jail.
The case is of Civil Lines. According to Ritika Thapar, who lives in Rameshwaram Apartment here, Dheeraj Thapar, a resident of Vishnupuri, had a love marriage in Arya Samaj temple on 11 February 2008. The marriage was registered on 19 March of the next month. It is alleged that shortly after the marriage, Dheeraj started taunting me that I got trapped after having a love marriage with you. If I had married somewhere else according to my status, I would have gotten a dowry worth crores.
Ritika alleged that Dheeraj started beating me every day. When I informed my mother about this, she organised a ceremony in May 2008 and gave me five lakh rupees, gifts, and jewellery. Even after this, Dheeraj’s behaviour did not change. When I gave birth to a daughter on October 7, 2010, he started taunting me again. When I gave birth to a son on 19 July 2017, I thought that everything would be fine now, but it did not happen. After the birth of a son, my mother once again gave gifts to Dheeraj and his family per their demand.
Ritika has been living separately since 2021
It is alleged that in July 2021, Dheeraj usurped her Stridhan and threw her out of the house. After this, Ritika started living in the Rameshwaram Apartment. It is alleged that on 3 December 2024 at 9:30 pm, Dheeraj entered the apartment and called her down. When she reached downstairs with her two children, Dheeraj started abusing her in front of the children. He threatened to kill her if she did not transfer the flat to him and behaved indecently. While assaulting her, he strangled her, grabbed her head, and hit her on the bonnet of the car, due to which she got seriously injured.
Fight over two flats
According to the Gwaltoli Inspector, Ritika has said that she has two flats in her name. Dheeraj wants Ritika to transfer both her flats in his name. At present, the accused Dheeraj is in jail. Further action against him is underway.
